Community Grants
Since the Community Grant system launched in 2024, the Stronsay Development Trust has awarded over
£19,000
to community schemes and individuals to assist with events, training and supporting the place plan.

Entertainment & Wellbeing Grant
The Stronsay Development Trust offers small grants to support activities, events and initiatives that bring the community together and improve wellbeing on the island.
This includes community events and activities held in venues such as the Community Hall, Fishmart, Hotel, and outdoor spaces across Stronsay.
We welcome applications from community groups, organisations and individuals delivering activities for the benefit of the wider community.
Grants are capped at £1,000 per application. Groups may submit up to three applications per SDT financial year (September–August), subject to a maximum total award of £2,000 per group per financial year.

Education, Training & Travel Grant
This grant supports Stronsay residents to access education, training, and development opportunities.
Funding is available towards:
Course or training fees (max 50%)
Travel costs (max 50%)
Accommodation (max £30 per night)
Maximum funding: £1,000 per person per SDT financial year (September–August)
You may apply multiple times within the year, but total funding must not exceed £1,000.
Receipts must be retained and may be requested.

Young Persons Travel Pass
For the young residents of Stronsay
If you attend the Stronsay School then the school will have already added you/your child to the pass system and our Community bus driver will automatically tick you off as you use the service.
If you are under 23 and outside of the Stronsay School, then please use the Link to the on-line form to apply or scan the QR code.
A pass will be issued to you in the post.
